Essential Job Functions

• Provides an additional layer of intense, explicit, and differentiated instruction for students in reading.
• Organizes, plans, and sets instructional goals using a variety of data to meet the needs of individual students and groups.
• Works collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community, developing goals and strategies in the school improvement plan that enhance student learning and teacher effectiveness.
• Collaborates with the School‑wide Team to identify students at risk of failure and to determine systematic processes for intervention.
• Collaborates with administration and classroom teachers to finalize the selection and grouping of students receiving intervention services.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to develop intervention goals and strategies based on the MTSS protocol; documents meetings and conversations.
• Contributes to assessment wall/data conversations and PLCs using current student data.
• Serves as an academic resource for teachers and parents, facilitating reading training for professional staff throughout the year under the direction of the principal.
• Participates in the implementation of initiatives to improve education of students within the district.
• Supports and implements ESSA requirements associated with the Title I program.
• Demonstrates high ethical principles, including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for all stakeholders.
• Establishes an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for a diverse student population.
• Evaluates and analyzes student progress using diagnostic information from running records and other assessment procedures, adjusting instruction with research‑based interventions.
• Holds parent conferences to explain the intervention program and assists with family training.
• Communicates with parents through conferences, monthly newsletters, progress reports, and phone calls (including written positive communication).
• Incorporates 21st‑century life skills into instruction, focusing on leadership, ethics, accountability, adaptability, productivity, responsibility, people skills, self‑direction, and social responsibility.
• Uses a wide range of standards‑based instructional practices and curriculum materials to support reading achievement.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform basic life operational functions including fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Some positions may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or a negligible amount of force constantly.
