Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a skilled grinder to inspect, grind and finish castings to blueprint tolerances. Weekend shift Fri, Sat, Sun 6:00 am–6:30 pm; training Mon–Fri.

You will review x-ray/inspection paperwork, remove surface and blind defects with rotary files, and blend repaired areas to spec using grinders, burrs and abrasives. Also you will verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, perform penetrant inspections, complete logs, train others, and follow safety rules and

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints and inspection paperwork.
  • Ability to perform precise grinding to blueprint tolerances.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Review x-ray/inspection paperwork, sketches and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
  • Remove surface and blind cavity defects from castings using rotary files, burrs, abrasives or belts to prepare castings for repair.
  • Blend and rework repaired areas to specified tolerances; may use hand-held sandblaster.
  • Verify dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing and similar types of dimensional inspection devices.
  • Perform fluorescent penetrant inspection tests on parts to verify removal of surface and subsurface defects; apply penetrant, let dry, wash off and inspect for defects.
  • Complete logs and records.
  • Provide work direction and training to other grinders as assigned.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Job description

Will be working the Weekend shift Fri, Sat, Sun 6:00 am to 6:30pm Training will take place Mon.-Fri.
