Job summary

Evergen, a global CDMO in regenerative medicine, seeks a Tissue Processing Technician to join our production team in New York. You will learn to operate CNC systems, process donated tissue, and support sterilization, packaging, and inventory in a sterile environment with PPE.

This entry‑level to skilled career path emphasizes training, adherence to SOPs/WIs, data entry accuracy, and teamwork. Weekend and some shift variations may apply as needed to meet production goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue processing to achieve high quality yield per SOPs.
  • Process tissue products on schedule with accuracy.
  • Work safely in a clean room using PPE and aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain inventory and data entry for tissue in process.
  • Assist in updating SOPs and procedures as needed.

Summary of Position

The Tissue Processing Technician position at Evergen represents the primary production role. This role has a defined career path with training and development from entry‑level to highly skilled biotech worker. Employees develop technical skills in their assigned areas, understand the rules and regulations governing Evergen, and learn the basic operating approach, including reading and following work instructions, working in a team environment, and learning to work with minimal supervision.

Shift
  • Day: 6 am–2 pm
  • Evening: 2 pm–10 pm (+$1.25/hr)
  • Night: 10 pm–6 am (+$2.25/hr)
  • Some 4/10s and weekend shifts (+$1.50/hr) as needed
Day In The Life
  • CNC machines that use computer technology to precision‑cut grafts
  • Preparing donated tissue for processing by other departments
  • Tissue sterilization and packaging
  • Tissue receiving, tracking, and freezing
  • CORE instrument and materials packaging and delivery (Materials Technicians)
Position Responsibilities
  • Performs tissue processing activities that produce the highest level of quality and yield outcomes in accordance with applicable SOPs and WIs.
  • Accurately processes tissue products and meets production schedules.
  • Works safely, dons appropriate PPE, and applies excellent aseptic techniques in a clean room / controlled environment while performing individual tasks or contributing to a team effort.
  • Understands requirements for proper disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
  • Accurately completes paperwork and performs data entry in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Maintains accurate inventories of tissue in process by moving and storing tissue in appropriate locations.
  • Performs cycle count activities in accordance with SOPs.
  • Assists in reviewing and updating SOPs, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Serves as a technical expert in tissue processing and advises colleagues and engineers on techniques and improvement opportunities.
  • Supports key annual performance metrics for operations.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities in team meetings and other formal and informal settings.
Recommended Education and Experience
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven track record of reliability, a positive attitude, and appetite to learn.
Physical Requirements
  • Move or lift heavy objects (26–50 pounds).
  • Remain stationary (standing or sitting) most of the time.
  • Perform frequent fine manipulation using hands and fingers (pinching, touching, pulling, wrapping).
Environment
  • Constant wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Rigidly controlled and sterile environment; may involve work near biomedical and chemical hazards.
