Job summary

GLS North America Upfitters, LLC is seeking a Tire Technician to prepare and install wheels and tires on brand-new vehicles in a professional shop. You will mount, balance, inspect, and ensure correct installation while maintaining high workmanship standards.

The role requires handling up to 50 lb loads, working Monday–Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, with a starting pay rate of $20 per hour based on experience. Join a team focused on precision and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Mount and dismount tires from a variety of wheel sizes and types using tire mounting equipment.
• Balance wheels and tire assemblies using computerized wheel balancing equipment.
• Process approximately 15 wheels per day while maintaining quality and production standards.
• Inspect tires and wheels for damage or defects before and after processing.
• Install tires onto wheels according to specs and properly inflate to required pressures.
• Install and torque lug nuts and wheel components per specifications.

As a Tire Technician, you will be responsible for processing and preparing wheels and tires for installation on brand-new vehicles in a professional automotive shop. You will mount and balance tires, install tire and wheel assemblies, inspect completed work, and ensure all wheels meet company and customer quality expectations. The Tire Technician will be expected to efficiently process approximately 15 wheels per day while maintaining a high level of accuracy, safety, and workmanship.

Tire Technician Responsibilities Include

• Mount and dismount tires from a variety of wheel sizes and types using tire mounting equipment.
• Balance wheels and tire assemblies using computerized wheel balancing equipment.
• Process approximately 15 wheels per day while maintaining established quality and production standards.
• Inspect tires and wheels for visible damage, defects, or irregularities before and after processing.
• Install tires onto wheels according to manufacturer and company specifications.
• Properly inflate tires to specified pressure requirements.
• Install and torque lug nuts and wheel components according to established specifications.
• Use torque wrenches and other specialized tools to ensure proper installation.
• Verify wheel and tire specifications match the assigned vehicle and work order.
• Identify and communicate damaged, defective, or incorrect tires and wheels to the appropriate team member.
• Ensure wheels are properly labeled, organized, and staged for vehicle installation.
• Assist with preparing wheel and tire packages for installation on vehicles.
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed work as required.
• Perform quality inspections to ensure wheels and tires are properly mounted, balanced, and ready for installation.
• Maintain tire, wheel, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow proper procedures for handling and storing wheels and tires to prevent damage.
• Complete assigned work within established labor times while maintaining exceptional workmanship.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and vehicle handling standards.

Tire Technician Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum 1 year of tire, wheel, automotive, or related experience preferred.
• Previous experience with tire mounting and balancing equipment preferred.
• Experience working with a variety of tire and wheel sizes preferred.
• Basic understanding of tire and wheel components and proper installation procedures.
• Ability to safely operate tire mounting and wheel balancing equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and automotive shop equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to accurately follow vehicle-specific and manufacturer specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistent quality.

Tire Technician Working Conditions And Physical Demands Include

• Approximately 75% of the workday spent standing.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
• Working indoors in a professional automotive garage/shop environment.
• Frequent lifting and handling of tires and wheels weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use of tire mounting machines, wheel balancing equipment, torque wrenches, hand tools, power tools, and specialty shop equipment.
• Repetitive handling and processing of wheels and tires throughout the workday.
• May require working at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• May be exposed to automotive fluids, fumes, chemicals, dust, and other materials commonly found in an automotive shop and warehouse environment.
• Must be comfortable working around moving vehicles, automotive equipment, cleaning products, and an active shop environment.
