Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Tire Technician to join our Columbia area team. You will prepare, inspect, repair, and balance tires, and perform road tests after service.

You will use diagnostic equipment, tire-changing machines, and balancing tools while following safety procedures and maintaining tire inventories. A valid license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training is a plus.
• Must be 18 years of age and legally able to work.
• Physically able to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Positive attitude and ability to work independently or with a team.
• Good interpersonal and management communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tires for installation; mount/demount on rims and vehicles; fill to proper pressure.
• Inspect and test tires; assess damage and feasibility of repair.
• Repair tubes and tubeless tires; replace patches and treads as needed.
• Road test vehicles after repairs; align and balance wheels and tire assemblies.
• Rotate tires at prescribed mileage; perform preventative maintenance checks.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and tire service machinery; use hand/power tools.
• Follow safety procedures and manage tire inventories and supplies.
• Opportunity to train for roadside assistance responsibilities.

Job description

Tire Technician:

Express Employment Professionals is searching for a skilled tire technician. By becoming an Express associate, you will have access to all our jobs. We are dedicated to finding you the perfect fit. Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares tires for installation; mounts and demounts tires on rims and vehicles and fills tires to the proper air pressure.
• Inspects and tests tires
• Examines and probes damaged, defective, or flat tires to determine the extent of damage and the feasibility of repair; and recommends the disposal of non-repairable tires.
• Repairs tube and tubeless tires by puncturing blisters, applying patches, replacing treads, removing nails,
• changing tubes, installing boots, etc.
• Road tests vehicles after repairs are completed.
• Aligns and balances wheels and tire assemblies to minimize wear on tires, and rotates wheels at prescribed
• mileage intervals.
• Performs preventative maintenance checks
• Operates and maintains diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, tire changing machines, balancing equipment, and other specialized automotive tools and machinery.
• Practices safety methods in the operation of equipment and performance of duties.
• Inventories and ensures an adequate supply of tires and related parts; and requisitions/orders supplies as necessary.
• Will train to perform roadside assistance.

Skills Needed/Qualifications:

• High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeships a plus
• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Must have a valid license and clean driving record
• Positive attitude and work ethic
• Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
