Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is hiring a Tire Technician for our Syracuse, NY location. You will install tires on forklifts and other material handling equipment, operate a local box truck with an on-board tire press, and ensure work orders and stock are properly managed.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, clean driving record, and DOT medical certification upon hire. A company truck, training, and benefits are provided as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Previous tire industry experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklift, hydraulic tire press, pneumatic impact wrench, and torque wrench preferred.
• Good mechanical aptitude required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record required.
• DOT Medical Certification required upon hire.
• Basic reading/writing and math skills required.
• Ability to apply reasoning and problem solving in standard situations.

Responsibilities

• Install tires on material handling equipment, mainly forklifts.
• Operate a 26-foot box truck with an integrated tire press.
• Accurately fill out work orders.
• Stock/put away tires in warehouse.
• Load inventory onto trucks daily; unload scrap at day end.
• Maintain the company truck with routine checks.
• Complete monthly truck inspection forms.
• Maintain professional appearance and safety standards.
• Demonstrate Alta's Guiding Principles daily.
• Attend to other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Our Material Handling Group is seeking a full-time Tire Technician for our Syracuse, NY branch. Tire technicians will provide professional installation of industrial tires on material handling equipment. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

• Install tires on various material handling equipment, primarily forklifts
• Safely operate a single axle 26-foot box truck with a self-contained industrial tire press
• Ensure work orders are filled out correctly
• Put away tires/stock in warehouse
• Load trucks daily with inventory needed, unload scrap at end of day
• Maintain company truck (wash/clean, check fluids, daily walk around inspection)
• Fill out monthly truck inspection/condition form
• Maintain professional appearance
• Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

Qualifications

• Language Skills – Basic: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills – Basic: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Reasoning Ability – Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; Occasionally will climb or balance, taste/smell
• Vision: No special vision requirements
• Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift from 25 to 100+ pounds
• Work Environment: Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts, vibration; Frequently will work in outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally will work in wet or humid conditions (non‑weather related), fumes or airborne particles, extreme hear (non‑weather related), risk of electrical shock

Compensation Range: $28.00 to $34.00 per hour. This range is regarding base pay only and does not include benefits and potential bonuses. Overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographical location, skillset, education, and experience.
