Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to study nonequilibrium dynamics in many-body systems using neutrons and to develop new neutron sample environments enabling time-resolved scattering. This role sits in the Quantum Heterostructures Group within the Foundational Materials Science Section at ORNL.

You will work with condensed matter theorists and imaging/scattering specialists, contribute to high-impact publications, and help advance ORNL's mission through

Qualifications

• PhD in condensed matter physics or related field completed within the last 5 years.
• Extensive experience in neutron or X-ray scattering.
• Experience with non-equilibrium physics and scattering theory.

Responsibilities

• Develop new sample environments at neutron beamlines.
• Perform pump-probe time-resolved neutron scattering experiments.
• Analyze scattering data and publish results.
• Collaborate with theorists and experimentalists across the lab.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality programs.
