Job description

Synerfac is seeking a Tig Welder/Fitter to work the 3rd shift for our client in Newport News, VA. Our client is a leader in custom precision Sheetmetal manufacturing on the East Coast.

The Tig Welder/Fitter will fit and weld sheet metal parts according to specifications from work orders, customer drawings, etc., ensuring they meet outlined requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. Welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions;
2. Using clamps to fit workpieces together accurately;
3. Examining workpieces for defects and measuring with calipers, straightedges, templates, etc., to ensure conformance with specifications;
4. Welding using steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys, either separately or in combination;
5. Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding, or bolting parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding;
6. Maintaining equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.

Job Requirements:

• 3+ years of TIG welding experience in a production or shop environment;
• Ability to read basic blueprints and understand welding symbols;
• Experience welding light gauge materials;
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
