Amplitude HR is seeking a TIG Welder and Fabricator for a hands-on shop role in Sterling Heights, Michigan. You will see parts from raw stock to finished product, with a mix of TIG welding and general fabrication as demand requires.

TIG Welder and Fabricator

This is hands‑on shop work for someone who likes building real things with their hands and seeing a part through from raw stock to finished product.

This role combines general fabrication with TIG welding. This is not a full‑time welding position-welding happens in stretches as demand arises, and the rest of the time you'll be doing general fabrication work. The mix varies day to day. If you're looking to weld all day every day, this isn't the right fit. TIG only.

You'll work with wire, rod, and sheet to fabricate parts from engineering drawings, running CNC equipment and working across a range of tasks rather than standing at one repetitive station.

We're a small, established manufacturer, and a small shop means no two days look exactly alike‑you'll learn a broad set of skills and grow into them over time. We provide on‑the‑job training and expect you to keep building on it.

What you'll do:

• TIG welding, in variable stretches as job demand calls for it
• CNC lathe, mill, and router operation
• Part assembly, coil making
• General fabrication‑cutting, turning, milling, and more
• Incoming material inspection
• Packaging and building shipping containers

What you bring:

• Demonstrable TIG welding skill-you'll run a few live TIG welds during the interview
• Metal fabrication experience, including general use of mills, lathes, and band saws
• The ability to read and interpret basic drawings-calculating dimensions, cut lengths, and the like
• A willingness to learn and take on varied work, and comfort splitting your time between welding and fabrication
• The physical ability to perform the essential functions listed below, including repeated unassisted lifting and handling of metal materials up to 50 lbs

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):

This is a physically demanding, hands‑on role in an active metal fabrication shop. Most material is metal that is heavy by nature. The following are essential functions of the position and are performed regularly throughout each shift:

• Frequently lift, carry, and maneuver metal stock, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted, and heavier loads with team assistance or lifting equipment.
• Load, position, and unload heavy stock and finished parts on and off machines, work tables, saws, presses, and shipping containers.
• Receive and inspect incoming material, including lifting and positioning items onto a scale to be weighed.
• Operate a hydraulic press and forming equipment, including manual handling of the material being formed.
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and remain on your feet for the full shift on a concrete shop floor.
• Perform repetitive handling of metal throughout the day. Heavy material handling is continuous and integral to every task in this role; it is not a separate or occasional duty.
