TIG Welder

CPP Syracuse is looking for a full time Welder for our facility on 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 2:30pm-11pm) to join our team! $1,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, 5% Bonus program. Hourly rate $27-30 per hour depending on experience. $2/hour shift differential

Primary Purpose

Perform all required duties relating to Gas Tungsten Arc welding (GTAW) of investment castings.

CANDIDATES OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ARE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST & BACKGROUND STUDY PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT

Major Responsibilities
  1. Ability to weld by method of GTAW for rework, repair and cosmetic upgrade in accordance with customer specifications and internal procedures. Candidate is progressing towards welding certification for all alloys.
  2. Evaluate castings to ensure preparation from prior operation is adequate.
  3. Assess the condition of the castings to determine weld technique.
  4. Perform additional weld preparation with the use of die and belt grinders.
  5. Operate and maintain welding machines and equipment.
  6. Ability to document weld locations and dimensions.
  7. Identify and implement improvement opportunities through the use of lean tools such as Systematic Problem Solving, Process Management, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
  8. Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  9. Ability to work overtime.
  10. Attendance/Reliability.
  11. Ability to work at the Chittenango facility.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  1. Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Experience: Formal training or classes a plus.
  3. Certifications/Licenses: Maintain welding certification for GTAW.
  1. Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, simple drawings, procedure manuals and Internal Method Sheets (IMS). Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers and leadership. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
  3. Some positions require vision screening with or without corrective lenses.

Working Conditions
  1. The physical effort applied in this job includes lifting, pulling, reaching, manipulating, carrying, pushing, or shoveling.
  2. Welding requires repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
