Plan, layout, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision.
May indirectly supervise or train subordinates.
Three to five years of pipe welding experience preferred. Knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques for measuring, fitting, and welding steel. X-ray pipe welding experience and ability to weld all positions, including mirror welds. Knowledge of welding symbols, ship terminology, OSHA, and ABS standards. Must pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test for ABS certification.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and plans, apply instructions, operate hand and power tools safely, and perform measurements accurately.

Frequent communication, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various environments including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures.
Exposure to electrical shock, mechanical hazards, fumes, chemicals, loud noise, and other industrial hazards. Rigorous safety procedures and PPE are mandatory.
