Position Summary

Plan, layout, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Comply with company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies.
• Attend work regularly and work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders for welding or cutting metal components.
• Complete welds to standards using appropriate equipment and materials.
• Install and verify operation of high-pressure steel pipes and fittings.
• Repair and replace damaged pipes; fabricate and install fittings; install supports, valves, and control equipment; secure parts for welding.
• Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, weld, and install pipes and tubular products.
• Test installed piping systems and install related items per plans and specifications.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding.
• Produce high-quality, water-tight welds with various materials including steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May indirectly supervise or train subordinates.

Requirements

Experience

Three to five years of pipe welding experience preferred. Knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques for measuring, fitting, and welding steel. X-ray pipe welding experience and ability to weld all positions, including mirror welds. Knowledge of welding symbols, ship terminology, OSHA, and ABS standards. Must pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test for ABS certification.

Skills

Ability to read and understand blueprints and plans, apply instructions, operate hand and power tools safely, and perform measurements accurately.

Physical Demands
