  • Capable of selecting appropriate tooling and cutters.
  • Able to troubleshoot and develop fixtures for production runs and short-run jobs.

  • Set up and run Bridgeport Mills, Hardinge Lathes, surface grinders, and tool grinders.
  • Ensure machined components meet blueprint specs using measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges).
  • Produce quality finishes and hold tight tolerances; inspect first run and spot-check subsequent parts.
  • Collaborate with engineers on R&D projects and be flexible with duties.

Job description

The Manual Machinist will must be able to set up and operate manual Hardinge lathes, Bridgeport milling machines and Grinders to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, knurling, slots and drilling and tapping using rotary tables and indexing heads etc. Must be capable of trouble shooting and developing fixtures and tooling for use in short run jobs and to develop tooling for CNC Production runs as well as tool grinding as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Set-up and run various machines, such as Bridgeport Mills and Hardinge Lathes, and medium-size lathes, surface grinders, and tool grinders.

Ensure all machined components produced meet Blueprint specifications by using appropriate measuring equipment, such as Micrometers, Vernier, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, Comparators, Vision Systems, etc.

  • Must be able to select suitable tooling and cutters.
  • Must be to able Read blueprints and sketches as well as take verbal instruction to determine machining to be done,
  • Capable of Making and repairing fixtures and tooling for Production runs
  • Need to be capable of producing quality surface finishes and holding tight Tolerances.
  • Needs to be able to troubleshoot and work with engineers on various R&D projects
  • Needs to be flexible.
  • Inspect first run piece and spot check succeeding pieces for conformance specifications.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
