About Us:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Self-Contained Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team (7.25 hrs/day).In this role, you will support students with diverse learning needs within a self-contained classroom setting and on the bus. You will work closely with the classroomteacher to create a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic and social growth of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide support for students with varying disabilities, helping them engage with the curriculum.
  • Facilitate daily activities and routines, ensuring a safe and structured environment.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with therapists and other specialists to support student needs.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Additional Duties:
This position includes responsibilities as a bus monitor, which requires riding the school bus with students at dismissal to help ensure their safety and appropriate behavior. Candidates must be able to consistently fulfill this responsibility as part of the daily schedule.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management techniques is a plus.
  • Teaching Assistant Certification or willing to obtain one.
