Job Description

NetImpact Strategies has an opportunity for a part-time, after-hours Tier 1 DevOps Support Engineer to join our talented team in support of a federal customer. This remote role provides critical first-line support for a range of development and operational tools, helping monitor pipelines, triage incidents, and escalate issues related to CI/CD workflows, infrastructure automation, and application deployments.

This is a part-time role (24 hours), with the possibility of full-time based on the candidate's skill set and growth ability.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide after-hours remote Tier 1 technical support to internal users and development teams.
  2. Monitor CI/CD pipeline alerts (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube) and escalate failed builds or deployment issues.
  3. Document and triage incoming issues and service requests in alignment with escalation protocols.
  4. Provide initial diagnostics and support for in-scope workstations, mobile devices, and developer environments.
  5. Maintain accurate records of incidents, change requests, and support tickets in ticketing systems.
  6. Assist with low-complexity tasks related to infrastructure provisioning (e.g., Terraform script validation, Puppet run checks).
  7. Update and contribute to the centralized knowledge base for repeat issues and support documentation.
  8. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by capturing feedback and improvement opportunities.
  9. Escalate complex issues to senior DevOps team members and collaborate with second-line support.
  10. Ensure proactive and responsive communication with customers and technical stakeholders.
  11. Support adherence to security and operational SOPs and ensure documentation readiness for audits.
Qualifications
Required
  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience providing Tier 1 IT support in an enterprise or government setting.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube).
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and escalation workflows.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a fixed 24-hour/week schedule during evenings, nights, or weekends.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Public Trust Eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Puppet).
  • Exposure to Agile and DevOps delivery models.
  • Familiarity with application deployment troubleshooting (e.g., container logs, status codes).
  • Ability to read and understand log files or Jenkins console outputs.
  • Previous Federal Consulting Experience.
