Hourly rate for Part-Time Ticket Seller: $18.12/hour

Summary

Provides information, patron service and facilitates ticket purchases at the San Diego Theatres Ticket Office windows, for all Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre ticketed events. Position requires evening, weekend and holiday hours as well as some weekday daytime shifts—applicants must have flexibility in availability and submit a complete availability schedule (included in application packet).

Successful candidates must enjoy assisting and engaging with patrons on a wide range of questions. They must provide availability for evening and weekend shifts, per collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Assist patrons in selecting and purchasing tickets for events at Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre, in person at the Ticket Office, utilizing the Ticketmaster Archtics system.
2. Assist Broadway / San Diego Season Subscribers with subscription ticket exchanges and additional ticket purchases, using the Ticketmaster Archtics system.
3. Process payments via cash, credit cards, gift certificates, travelers checks, etc., and balance to individual reports.
4. Process special ticket orders as requested by management.
5. Maintain availability for a minimum number of evening, weekend, daytime, and holiday shifts each month.
6. Move physically between work areas, Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre windows.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisory and Management Staff.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience
• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive computer experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of Ticketmaster and/or other ticketing systems and basic ticket office procedures.

• Language Skills
• Clear, polite, and effective verbal communication in English with patrons and staff.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents related to event information and procedures.
• Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish is a plus.

• Availability
• Must be available for a predetermined percentage of shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and daytime.

• Mathematical Skills
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including making correct change for cash transactions.

• Reasoning Ability
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various forms.

• None required.

Other Skills And Abilities

• Ability to learn computerized ticketing systems and related processes.
• Experience with point of sale or data entry systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with office procedures and ability to learn ticketing reports and interpretations.
• Flexibility to adapt to pressure and changing environments while maintaining professionalism.
• Ability to shift quickly between work assignments based on patron flow and staffing needs.
• Interact professionally and efficiently with colleagues and patrons.

Physical Demands

Includes moving between work areas, talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

May include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
