Position Summary

Ticket sellers serve as an information center, understanding and operating the Paciolan ticketing system, and providing excellent customer service to all guests at the Ryan Center and Meade Stadium.

They must know and understand each event, its seating charts, and configurations of the Ryan Center.

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00.

About the Venue

The Thomas M. Ryan Center, located on the University of Rhode Island campus in scenic South County, is a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility that opened in June 2002. It is home to URI Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs and features the URI football teams' locker room, athletic department offices, training rooms, players' lounges, and a souvenir store. The venue seats 8,000 for basketball and over 6,300 for concerts, family shows, lectures, and other community events. Designed to meet all ADA specifications, it accommodates guests with disabilities. Located in Kingston, the Center draws an audience of over 1.4 million people within a 40-mile radius.

Responsibilities
  1. Know and understand the operation of the Paciolan ticketing system.
  2. Familiarize yourself with each event (ticket prices, discounts, restrictions, reserved or general admission seating, etc.).
  3. Know and understand the seating charts and configurations of the Ryan Center.
  4. Perform transactions for all events on the ticketing system with efficiency and accuracy.
  5. Collect proper currency or credit card amounts for ticket purchases and give back the correct number of tickets and change.
  6. Communicate positively with patrons and ensure their satisfaction.
  7. Direct patrons to the nearest ticket taker when needed.
  8. Reconcile all monies received from ticket sales.
  9. Keep accurate and legible records.
  10. Maintain confidentiality.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Ticket Operations or Ticket Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with the public and handling cash.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends; availability during URI Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks is a plus.
