Job description

Position Summary

Assist guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner with ticket purchases, distribution of Will Call tickets, and accurate information pertaining to the PeoplesBank Arena and Pratt & Whitney Stadium and events held in both buildings.

This role pays an hourly rate of $16.44 (per CBA).

Benefits as per the union agreement.

This position will remain open until September 19, 2025.

About the Venue

The PeoplesBank Arena is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment. The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.

The PeoplesBank Arena is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers. The arena entertains millions of visitors annually with concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows. It has hosted artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and others.

The PeoplesBank Arena will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities
  1. Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work for each scheduled shift.
  2. Welcome guests to the PeoplesBank Arena and Pratt & Whitney Stadium with a smile and pleasant greeting, whether in person or on the phone.
  3. Listen attentively to guests’ questions and requests, providing accurate information about events, including dates, times, ticket prices, discounts, restrictions, seating options, and general facility information.
  4. Generate tickets accurately from the computerized system and retain tickets until payment is complete.
  5. Handle payment transactions efficiently and accurately, whether by cash or credit card.
  6. Ensure acceptable credit card support with photo ID and guest signature, or count change accurately for cash purchases.
  7. Maintain accurate cash counts at the start and end of each shift.
  8. Address guest concerns calmly and patiently, resolving issues or contacting a supervisor/manager when necessary.
Qualifications

Ticket sellers should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Ability to pass a timed written math exam without a calculator.
  • Experience with computerized ticketing systems preferred.
  • Moderate technology skills, including computers and smartphones.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Previous cash handling or retail experience.
  • Ability to accurately process large amounts of cash and credit transactions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to keep accurate, legible records.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
