Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Learn to interpret drawings, sketches, software, and plans; determine the best work procedures, tools, and equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair problems.
- Assist skilled craftsmen in measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit; weld supports; install cable and duct banks; and make terminations.
- Assist with the installation of control and distribution apparatus and secure them in place.
- Assist with testing and startup of systems, ensuring the continuity of circuits to verify electrical compatibility and safety of components.
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and determine the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- May be required to pull wires through conduit and connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Work with high and low voltage systems.
- Assist in disassembly and repair of defective electrical equipment or systems.
- Learn to operate electrical and mechanical hand tools, power tools, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area preferred.
- Possess relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions effectively.
- Field experience in the chosen craft discipline.
- Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools, and layout tools.
Requirements
- Ability to move about a construction/industrial site constantly; stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Work in a construction environment exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
- Use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffolds to access work areas, and climb and maintain balance on formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Move and work in confined and cluttered spaces and on uneven surfaces.
- Complete tasks in noisy and dusty environments.
- Be able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction sites.
- Possess required tools.
- Observe all safety and project rules; perform other duties as required.
- Pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and be Fit for Duty.
