Pay Range

Base pay range

$60,144.00/yr - $91,541.00/yr

Description

The Thruway Maintenance Supervisor 1 is the first supervisory level; effective communication with supervision and subordinates, helps develop requirements for critical maintenance projects; may independently supervise work on maintenance projects requiring specialized skills; and applies a broad range of tools and techniques across major maintenance areas.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Scheduling and assisting in scheduling maintenance staff for shift work.
  2. Reviewing daily timecards and preparing or reviewing reports on employee attendance and performance.
  3. Evaluating and rating employee performance, conducting counseling, and recommending actions.
  4. Ensuring maintenance equipment is in good operating condition.
  5. Directing operations such as mowing, vegetation control, safety installations, pavement repairs, bridge maintenance, and sign/fencing repairs.
  6. Training personnel and developing safety and performance standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current NYS employee with at least one year of qualifying service as a Bridge Painter 1 and eligible for transfer under NYS Civil Service Law Section 70.1.
  • Four years of experience in highway, street, road, or bridge maintenance or construction.
  • An associate degree can substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's for four; a master's for five; and a doctorate for six.

Pay Details

The total salary includes base pay ($60,144 - $84,541) and recruitment & retention pay ($7,000).
