Job summary

The Thrive Program in Denton ISD is seeking a Special Education FLS Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Works under the Campus Principal in an exempt role with 187 duty days and a structured, self-contained setting for students with significant behavioral needs.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with the appropriate Texas teacher certification and endorsement. The role emphasizes collaboration, instructional planning, and progress assessment within IEP guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: Bachelor’s/Master’s and required Texas teaching endorsement.
• Special Knowledge: strong organization, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience: at least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement plans for the curriculum and IEP-aligned activities.
• Prepare lessons accommodating individual student differences.
• Follow TEA guidelines, policies and admin regulations in instruction.
• Plan and use strategies and materials suited to diverse learners.
• Assess student learning styles and adapt instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with other special education staff to modify curricula as needed.
• Supervise aides/volunteers and coordinate with staff on goals.
• Maintain open communication with families and document progress.
• Integrate technology into teaching and manage classroom environment.
