Job description

Summary
The Thrift Store Cashier supports the Store Manager and Store Supervisor to assure that front of the store runs smoothly. He/she follows the direction of the Manager and Supervisor to assist customers at the cash register, handling their transactions and answering their questions. The Thrift Store Cashier assures that the store business is conducted in an ethical manner consistent with the values of Tahoe Forest Hospice and the Tahoe Forest Hospital District.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works as an effective member of the Tahoe Forest Hospice Team following the direction of the manager, supervisor and senior retail associate.
  • Works with customers handling cash and credit card transactions at the cash register.
  • Comfortably answers customer questions regarding shopping and donations procedures.
  • Stocks floor as requested, bringing stocking concerns to the attention of management. Addresses concerns as directed.
  • Works with management to see that daily store upkeep is maintained: includes regularly vacuuming and dusting the store, straightening racks, and organizing and displaying product as needed.
  • Responsible for seeing that the register counter, dressing rooms and retail floor space are kept clean and organized.
  • Tags and prices products at the register as directed by Manager or Supervisors.
  • Rotates to the back for the store to tag and hang product as needed.
  • Assists with moving products to and from the storage areas.
  • Assists with loading and unloading of furniture and donations.
  • Assists with loading and unloading the van.
  • Discards garbage and recycle, including bags of clothing and shoes. Stuffs the recycle bin.
  • Works assigned schedule, including weekends and holidays. May work extra shifts to cover sick days or vacations. May fill in at the Incline Thrift location or The Gift Tree.
  • Supports the mission of Tahoe Forest Hospice in interactions with customers and volunteers.
  • Clearly explains the mission of the Tahoe Forest Hospice and the Hospice Thrift Store to customers.
  • Appropriately directs inquiries for Hospice services to Hospice personnel.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
