Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey is hiring a Thrift Store Associate. This full-time role involves receiving donations, sorting, tagging, and pricing merchandise for the sales floor.

You will help maintain stockroom organization, follow safety guidelines, and provide friendly service to donors and customers. The position requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in customer service, donation processing, retail, or warehouse environments is a plus.
• Ability to provide friendly, respectful service to a diverse donor and customer population.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting, sorting, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive donations and prepare them for sale, including sorting and tagging.
• Price merchandise according to company standards and meet production goals.
• Prepare items on rolling racks for transport to the sales floor.
• Maintain stockroom organization and quality control.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, secure work environment.
• Provide excellent customer and donor service, including issuing receipts.
• Assist with e-commerce and clearance labeling as needed.
• Support store team and broader organizational goals.
