Job summary

The Salvation Army Grand Rapids Thrift Store is seeking an Assistant Manager to help run daily operations, supervise staff and volunteers, and ensure a welcoming shopping experience. This on-site role supports merchandising, assists with customer service, and contributes to the store's mission of serving the local community.

Wage: $17.60 to $19.15 per hour, 40 hours a week. Requires a High School diploma, retail/ cash handling experience, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One or more years of retail experience preferred.
• Experience handling cash transactions.
• Must pass background checks and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily store operations, opening/closing, cash handling, and policy adherence.
• Oversee sorting, pricing, and display of donated items for merchandising.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve minor complaints.
• Support promotions and maintain attractive, stocked displays.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment and report issues.
• Greet donors and support community engagement led by the Store Manager.
