Job summary

Austin Pets Alive! seeks a Thrift Store Manager to lead APA!’s San Marcos thrift operation and oversee the on-site volunteer and staff teams. You will maximize profits, guide daily workflows, and ensure accountability, teamwork, and mission-aligned goals across the store.

This full-time role reports to the Director of Retail Operations and requires weekend availability, a solutions-oriented approach, and a dedication to creating a welcoming volunteer-powered culture across APA!’s thrift network.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of retail management experience preferred with a proven track record of success.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritize workload to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
• Must be a collaborative team player who can both nurture and develop staff and volunteers.
• Proven leadership ability and strong partnerships within internal teams.
• Strong personnel management and retail operations knowledge, including inventory control, loss prevention, merchandising, customer service and store budget preparation.
• Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; G Suite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff and volunteers with clear expectations and mentorship, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and revenue targets are met.
• Provide ongoing training to staff and volunteers to maximize store effectiveness.
• Develop and update policies and procedures; ensure dissemination and implementation.
• Coordinate in-store events targeting local groups to drive customer traffic.
• Oversee staff compliance with agency policies and procedures and recruit/onboard staff with HR support.
• Maintain a neat, clean, organized store environment and overall productivity across the store.
