Hands of Heartland Inc. is seeking a friendly Customer Services Specialist for our Omaha thrift store. You will greet customers, help them find items, and maintain a welcoming shopping environment.

You will handle sales at the register, process returns, and accept donations while ensuring accurate pricing and receipts. The role requires reliable, punctual teamwork and a passion for sustainable, affordable shopping.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable handling cash and operating a POS.
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Interest in sustainability, secondhand shopping, or community-focused retail is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, answer questions, assist with locating items, and offer product suggestions.
• Operate the cash register — process sales, returns, and exchanges, handling cash and card transactions.
• Maintain store appearance — keep floor clean, organized, and well-stocked; ensure merchandise is attractively displayed.
• Sort and process donations — inspect items, categorize, and prepare for pricing/display.
• Price merchandise according to store guidelines with clear tags.
• Assist with inventory rotation — restock shelves and manage back-room organization.
• Support loss-prevention by staying attentive and following store policies.
• Engage positively with donors — accept donations, provide receipts, express appreciation.
• Collaborate with team to meet daily goals and maintain smooth operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
