Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division in Rapid City, SD is seeking a part-time Retail Associate to help maintain the thrift store, stock shelves and merchandise, assist customers, and operate the cash register.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and a friendly, reliable attitude. Retail or cash-handling experience is a plus but not required; background checks and Safe from Harm training may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required for this position.
• Retail and/or cash register experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks.
• Basic computer skills to access payroll/timekeeping.
• Proficiency in English reading and writing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep shelves and racks full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist management with pricing items for sale.
• Process merchandise efficiently following standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters with merchandise daily.
• Learn and train on the processing system including cash register.
• Maintain a clean store environment, including shelves and counters.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers as needed.
• Provide courteous, prompt customer service aligned with the Salvation Army mission.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
