Job summary

The Salvation Army thrift store in Kansas is seeking a part-time associate to handle sales, pricing, stocking and customer service. You will operate the register, assist customers and maintain a clean, organized sales floor.

Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED. Retail experience is preferred but not required; training provided. This position supports the Salvation Army mission and invites applicants who value teamwork and community service.

Job description

Job Objective : Handling and pricing of merchandise for sale. Rings up merchandise, totals bill, accepts payments and makes changes for customers in thrift store by performing the following duties .

Essential Functions:

• Process merchandize efficiently following the sta ndards set by the Store Manager
• Pricin g unmarked items of merchandise
• Hang clothing as instructed
• Stock racks, shelves, counters or tables with merchandise
• Cle ans shelves, counters or tables
• Ring up purchases for customers
• Operates cash register, accep ting payment and making change
• Wraps or bag merchandise for customers
• Help set up displays and arranges merchandise to promote sales
• M aintain good customer relations by giving prompt, co urteous assistance to customers
• Follow through on rot ating and outdating merchandise
• Insure proper use of assigned equipment
• Assure that the building and grounds are kept clean of trash a nd donated items
• Maintain and clean restrooms, f oyer, trash, windows and floors
• Report complaints, damages and concern to management
• Support th e mission of The Salvation Army
• Other duties as assigned by the thrift store manager or corps officer

Minimum Qualifications:

Education : High School diploma or GED preferred .

Experience : R etail experience is preferred but not required
