Job summary

The Salvation Army in Williamsport is seeking a part-time Thrift Store Worker to join our team immediately. This role covers about 20 hours per week and includes working with the store manager to help shoppers and process donations.

You will operate the cash register, greet customers, help organize sorting, and maintain clean, safe store conditions. Prior retail experience is helpful; a valid driver’s license is required.

• Must be dependable, honest and able to work independently.
• Good communications, customer service and organizational skills.
• Be neat and polite and effectively relate to people.
• Retail experience helpful.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

• Pennsylvania background checks and training requirements prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• GENERAL CLEANLINESS: Vacuum, mop, dust, clean restrooms, empty trash/cardboard, and cleaning duties as assigned.
• RETAIL/PROCESSING: Operate cash register, greet and assist customers; organize sorting room and item processing; coordinate pitch bags for rag pick-up; vacuum and spray pillows and furniture; perform other duties as assigned.
• SAFETY: Always use safety belt when lifting; arrange for available help for heavy items over 75 pounds; keep sales aisles and exits clear.
