Job summary

The Salvation Army thrift store in Michigan is seeking a part-time Thrift Store Associate to receive donations, process and display merchandise, operate a cash register, and complete sales transactions.

You will help provide customer service, maintain donation areas, price and display items, and support the team while assisting with pickups. Retail experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred but not required.
• Comfort with handling donations and merchandise
• Willingness to work in all store areas as needed

Responsibilities

• Cross train and work in all areas of store as needed
• Accept and evaluate donations
• Maintain donation area cleanliness during store’s business hours
• Ensure quality of inventory by adhering to merchandise standards when accepting donations
• Clean, price and display merchandise
• Arrange and display merchandise throughout the store as assigned
• Operate cash register, assist with sales transactions and with the reconciliation of daily cash receipts
• Answer phone lines and provide customer service
• Assist customers on the sales floor and suggest sales when appropriate
• Build positive donor relations by providing information regarding use of donations
• Actively support a team environment among store associates
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and other trainings
• Interact appropriately and courteously with donors while on their property
• Ensure a safe work environment by keeping aisles and other areas clear of debris
• Load and unload donations from truck
