Title: Thrift Shop Associate

Reports to: Thrift Shop Manager

Status: part-time to a maximum of 15-20 hours per week

Work Schedule: weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays

Salary: $16/hr.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Thrift Shop Manager, the Thrift Shop Associate is responsible for providing excellent service to guests, sorting incoming products, receiving donations, and assisting the Shop Manager in maintaining all store operations. On a daily basis, the Associate will positively impact our guests, donors, volunteers, and the communities in which we operate.

The Associate is a retail enthusiast who is service-focused, can maintain their composure, and has the ability to communicate and build relationships, both internal and external. In doing so, the Associate will be action-oriented, drive results, and strive to become an expert in their role through continuous self-development and learning.

The Associate is part of a hands-on work environment where it is required to physically move through our operation while adhering to daily goals. We are operational 7 days a week and schedule our employees based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

On the sales floor:

• Acknowledge guests and assist with their shopping needs
• Provide prompt, efficient and accurate checkout service
• Promote upcoming sales or special fundraising events
• Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly sales floor and checkout areas
• Assist Store Manager when setting up displays
• Know current inventory to better assist customers
• Answer the telephone in a professional and courteous manner
• Replenish product

In Production Area:

• Receive, assist, and thank guests for their donations
• Unpack, lift, and move boxes and bags of donated items
• Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition
• Assist in arranging space planning for ever-changing inventory
• Price items according to manager input
• Place clothing on hangers and items on racks and distribute to the appropriate area on the sales floor
• Prepare stock to make ready for display on sales floors
• Execute additional duties as assigned by Shop Manager

Specifications for Physical Requirements:

• Ability to engage in minor or moderate physical labor
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
