Job summary

The Salvation Army in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Assistant Manager for the LB Long Beach Main Store. You will assist the Store Manager in daily retail operations, supervise staff, manage inventory and donations, and drive sales while delivering service that supports rehabilitation programs.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of retail management experience, preferably in thrift stores.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2 years of retail management/supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
Must pass background check and have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

Take active role with Store Manager in day-to-day store operations including opening/closing, POS, inventory, donations and merchandising.
Manage day-to-day store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
Monitor KPIs to drive store sales and profitability as budgeted.
Schedule staff coverage and coordinate daily team meetings; ensure accurate payroll records.
Assist with hiring, training, and coaching of store team; provide performance feedback.
Ensure high levels of customer and donor satisfaction and maintain community relations.
Support Back Room Processing and supervise program beneficiaries when Work Therapy Assignments are used.
Protect store currency, inventory, property and maintain security protocols.
Assist with safety meetings and annual safety compliance.
