Job summary

Red White & Blue Thrift in Manassas, VA is seeking a Presorter to help sort and prep donated items for the shop floor. You will open donation bags, direct items to the correct department, and perform an initial assessment of each item's condition to decide if it is sale-ready.

Qualifications

• Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back of house experience is preferred, but not required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle heavy lifting and material sorting of donated items, including clothing, textiles, cardboard, plastics, furniture, electronics, and other items, while adhering to safety guidelines
• Open bags or boxes of donated items and accurately sort them into appropriate tubs or bins by department
• Conduct initial assessment of each item's condition to determine suitability for sale and ensure accurate documentation of arrivals
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the sorting area, ensuring items are placed in designated areas
• Follow strict safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment
• Communicate effectively with team members, following store procedures and coordinating with colleagues to streamline sorting operations
• Collaborate with team members to achieve daily sorting targets and maintain productivity
• Assist with other tasks as needed to support thrift store operations
