Job summary

Systems Planning & Analysis is looking for a Threat Systems Support Analyst to provide onsite support at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The successful candidate will support the Joint Staff J-8 Warfare Analysis Division by updating platform and weapon system modeling data.

This role requires extensive experience with DoD stakeholders, ensuring accurate data management and analysis for adversary capabilities. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and Active Top Secret clearance are mandatory for this position.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in military or operations research-related fields.

The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID offers a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. Group W provides wargaming, warfare modeling and simulation, software development, data analytics, and operations research/system analysis support to the national security mission. As a leader in campaign, mission, and wargaming analysis we embrace the cycle of research paradigm, continually seeking to improve the multi‑method application of tools, data, methods, and techniques to generate credible and resilient insights to inform decisions on the Department’s most challenging issues spanning CONOPs, acquisitions, force structures, tactics, and strategies. Group W is the developer and maintainer of the Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM) and the Standard Wargame Integration and Facilitation Tool (SWIFT).

We have an upcoming need for a Threat Systems Support Analyst to provide onsite support at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

The candidate will support Joint Staff J‑8 Warfare Analysis Division (WAD) Modeling team to update platform and weapon system modeling data for the Synthetic Operations Research Model (STORM) and the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM). Responsibilities include reviewing, researching, characterizing and monitoring at least 100 blue and red platforms and systems performance daily; developing, refreshing, and integrating improved modeling data into existing models, working in partnership with a dedicated WAD modeling team; acquiring, interpreting, synthesizing, and leveraging intelligence resources to inform performance modeling of adversary capabilities. Perform ad‑hoc efforts related to J‑8 WAD’s modeling and simulation effort, and develop and update products to inform J‑8 WAD’s net assessments focusing on threat systems and potential adversary reactions.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree or an additional 4 years of education can be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
• 8+ years of experience related to one or more of the following:
• Military or operations research‑related field
• Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE)
• Force and capability development
• Intelligence collection and analysis
• 8+ years of experience working with DoD stakeholders to collect, maintain, refine complex datasets.
• Adept with interfacing with clients.
• Demonstrated expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL).

Desired Qualifications

• 1+ year of demonstrated ability leading DoD analytic and/or operations research teams or prior Military Service.

VA Pay Transparency Salary range: $100,000 – $140,000 per year.
