Job summary

Threat Systems Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL, is responsible for building APEX, a web-based platform enabling analysts and engineers to discover, request, access, visualize, and interact with threat data products used by the Missile Defense community.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining the APEX web app, building Angular/TypeScript interfaces, and writing Python services to connect front-end with back-end data sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2-5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and possess, or be able to obtain, a Secret clearance.
• Developing maintainable, modular software as part of a larger application.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain features for the APEX web application.
• Develop responsive web interfaces using Angular and TypeScript.
• Develop Python software supporting application services, data processing, and integration with TSE data products.
• Create interactive views and visualizations that allow users to explore complex threat information.
• Develop interfaces between APEX and the data products, databases, and services that support the TSE mission.
• Support capabilities for discovering, requesting, retrieving, and interacting with threat data products.
• Work directly with engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand how threat data is used and translate those needs into useful software capabilities.
• Participate in collaborative software development, testing, code reviews, and configuration management.
• Contribute to the continued evolution of APEX as new threat products, data sources, and user needs are identified.
