The State of Vermont is hiring a Threat Mitigation & Training Coordinator to oversee safety and security incidents impacting state employees. This full-time role involves extensive interaction with various agencies and requires a valid driver's license and experience in investigations or as a first responder. The Department of Building and General Services - Office of Safety & Security, is seeking a Threat Mitigation & Training Coordinator. This position will be responsible for triaging, administering, and addressing and safety and security incidents and threats to state employees. The Coordinator will support the Office's mission by compiling information from complainants and witnesses regarding safety and security incidents, maintaining data, responding to safety concerns, training State employees in first aid, CPR and related material, and assisting with various security-related administrative tasks. Duties involve extensive interaction with other Safety and Security staff and employees from various agencies across the state. Instructor certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable. Work is performed under the supervision of the Preparedness and Threat Mitigation Section Chief.

Duties require travel throughout the State, for which private means of transportation is required. Duties are generally performed in an office setting however, site assessments, foot and vehicle patrols, and responses to safety concerns will occur in and around various State facilities. Incumbent will be exposed to objectionable material and information as part of the investigative process. Incumbent will occasionally be exposed to adverse weather conditions, hostile people, and people displaying mental health behaviors. Incumbents are expected to move and carry various equipment in the performance of their duties. Must have the ability to sprint short distances and run moderate distances in response to emergencies. Duties may not always adhere to a standard daily or weekly schedule and there is potential for occasional no-notice overtime.
Two (2) years of experience conducting investigations and interviews involving criminal or civil investigations, threat assessments, risk assessments, or safety or security-related site surveys.
OR
Two (2) years of experience as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, other first responder.
Experience with developing and/or conducting training.
Possession or ability to possess within 6 months, instructor level certifications for instruction provided by this office, including CPR and Stop the Bleed.
Valid Driver's License is required.
Must pass a fingerprint supported security clearance.
