The Role

We are seeking a Threat Detection & Response Engineer to help research AI-era threats and defensive technologies and to build the detection-and-response capabilities that strengthen our platform. This is a mid-level individual-contributor role that combines threat research with hands‑on engineering. Working closely with senior architects and researchers, you will investigate emerging threats, build and test prototypes, and help turn promising research into production‑ready capabilities. You will collaborate across threat intelligence, detection engineering, and AI/ML teams to translate findings into practical detection and response improvements. This role is an excellent path for an engineer looking to grow toward senior and principal-level threat architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Threat & technology research. Investigate emerging AI-era threats — including AI-enabled attacks and threats to AI systems (e.g., prompt injection, model misuse) — and summarize findings for the team.
• Detection engineering. Build, test, and refine detection-and-response capabilities that integrate with existing security tooling and analyst workflows, under the guidance of senior architects.
• Prototyping & experimentation. Develop and evaluate prototypes to test the feasibility of new defensive approaches; help document them into clear specifications.
• Collaboration. Partner with detection engineering, data science, and platform teams to move prototypes toward production-ready capabilities.
• Communication. Communicate research findings and technical work clearly to teammates and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in cybersecurity, software engineering, or a related technical field, with exposure to threat detection and response.
• Experience building or contributing to technical systems that reached production.
• Familiarity with security tooling and operational workflows, and an interest in how they integrate.
• Basic familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application to threat detection, and awareness of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a security-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Exposure to AI/ML security concepts, such as adversarial ML or defending against AI-enabled attacks (e.g., awareness of the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs).
• Hands‑on experience with detection-and-response tooling (EDR / XDR, SIEM, or SOAR).
• Experience working with data-processing systems or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• A relevant security certification (e.g., Security+, GCIH, OSCP) or equivalent demonstrated skill.
• Experience collaborating in a research, R&D, or emerging-technologies function.
