Job summary

CoStar Group in Arlington, VA is seeking a Threat Detection Security Engineer to join our security operations. This hybrid role balances incident response leadership with proactive threat hunting and defense improvement.

You will work with threat intelligence, detection engineering, and security controls teams to strengthen our enterprise security program, mentor colleagues, and participate in 24x7 on‑call rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited university.
• 4+ years of hands-on security engineering experience.
• Experience with Microsoft/Azure security tooling.
• Ability to automate to increase detection and response.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Experience scripting with Python or low-code.

Responsibilities

• Own cyber security incidents from identification to resolution.
• Record artifacts and evidence accurately.
• Collaborate with threat intel and security controls teams.
• Escalate triage and guide investigations.
• Maintain Incident Response Plan and processes.
• Lead Mitre Att&ck guidance and related practices.
• Perform threat hunts in the CoStar enterprise.
• Deliver training and quarterly tabletop exercises.
• Be a security advocate across the enterprise.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
