Albany Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Thoracic Surgery team and provide inpatient care across the hospital. This full-time role supports a high-acuity surgical service and multidisciplinary hospital care.

The position includes ICU management, preoperative evaluations, and collaboration with surgical and medical teams. 24/7 coverage and opportunities for research and teaching are available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting (CT Surgery experience strongly preferred).
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for thoracic surgical patients from preop to postoperative ICU.
• Assist in diagnosis and surgical management of thoracic diseases including lung cancer and esophageal pathology.
• Perform or assist in thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy, VATS, and other minimally invasive techniques.
• Manage critically ill ICU patients and monitor ventilation, hemodynamics, fluids, and sedation.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, care plans, and discharge instructions.
