Job summary

OhioHealth in Columbus, OH, seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP/CNS) to serve as a Surgery First Assistant in thoracic surgery, working in collaboration with the surgeon in both inpatient and same-day settings.

Role requires a high level of independent clinical decision-making, adherence to SA/SCA with a supervising physician, and participation in safety and quality initiatives within a High Reliability Organization framework.

Qualifications

• AANP and APRN credentials required.
• State license required (Ohio) plus relevant certifications.
• National certifications for PA/NP roles (NCCPA/PA-C, NASC, RNFA) are expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgeon in the operating room as a first assist across thoracic procedures.
• Maintain adherence to Supervision Agreement (SA) or Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) and delineation of privileges.

Job Description Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) including Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), work in collaboration with the surgeon in the operating room, whether hospital-based inpatient or same-day surgery setting, serving as a Surgery First Assist in a variety of specialties. Performs invasive procedures and requires a high level of independent clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities And Duties

Works under direction and in consultation/collaboration with physician and may perform services authorized by the supervising/collaborating physician that are part of the physician's normal course of practice and expertise. Promotes quality outcomes and initiatives. Must have a Supervision Agreement (SA) or Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) with a physician in like practice. Practices within applicable state laws, appropriate boards, and in accordance with his/her/their SA/SCA and delineation of privileges.

As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
