Job summary

U.S. Army 2nd Medical Recruiting Battalion is seeking a dedicated Thoracic Surgeon to join the Army Medical Corps. You will diagnose and treat thoracic trauma, oncology, and respiratory conditions, performing vascular-related thoracic surgeries as needed and guiding patient care across the continuum.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited US school; foreign grads may apply with permanent certificate from ECFMG
• Current license to practice medicine in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico
• Eligibility for board certification
• Completion of at least one year of approved graduate medical education internship
• Completion of a thoracic surgery training program
• Between 21 and 42 years of age (waivers on a case-by-case basis)
• US citizenship

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients with thoracic surgical needs
• Perform surgeries in thoracic trauma, oncology, and respiratory medicine
• Prescribe courses of treatment and manage postoperative care
• Contribute to humanitarian missions and leadership training within the Army Medical Corps

As a Thoracic Surgeon on the U.S. Army health care team, you'll be at the forefront of medical innovation in thoracic trauma, oncology and respiratory medicine. You'll examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment and surgery for patients having surgical needs of the vascular system and performing required surgery. Requirements:
