Job description

Help Shape the Future of Lung Health: Thoracic Radiologist Needed for AI Annotation Project

Are you a detail-oriented and insightful Thoracic Radiologist looking for a meaningful way to contribute to medical innovation from the comfort of your own space?

Medcase, a company built on the belief that collaboration and shared knowledge can transform healthcare, is partnering with a pioneering client at the forefront of artificial intelligence in medical imaging. We are seeking United States Board Certified Radiologists with Thoracic Fellowships to lend their expertise to an exciting project focused on enhancing AI's ability to detect pulmonary embolism (PE).

The Opportunity:

Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of a powerful AI tool that could assist fellow radiologists in identifying subtle signs of PE, potentially leading to earlier diagnosis and improved patient outcomes. This project centers around meticulously annotating medical images to train this cutting-edge algorithm. Your keen eye and deep understanding of thoracic imaging will be invaluable in creating the high-quality data needed to bring this technology to life.

Project Details:

As part of this collaborative effort, you will:

  • Carefully review and label contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) and CT pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) studies, specifically identifying and delineating pulmonary emboli in both lungs.
  • Focus on the accurate annotation of acute PE, extending down to the sub-segmental level.
  • Utilize the user-friendly RedBrick annotation platform (don't worry, we'll provide training if you're new to it!).
  • Participate in a thoughtful review process alongside two other radiologists, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the annotations through a consensus-based approach.
  • Benefit from comprehensive training materials and ongoing support from both the client and experienced Medcase radiologists.
  • Contribute approximately 12-18 hours per week, with some flexibility to accommodate your schedule. Each case is estimated to take around 11 minutes to annotate

We Are seeking radiologists who bring:

  • Board certification in Radiology from the United States.
  • Specialized training and expertise through a Thoracic Fellowship.
  • 7+ years of experience practicing after your fellowship.
  • Familiarity with the RedBrick annotation tool is a plus, but not a must-have.
  • A commitment to dedicating around 12-25 hours per week to this important work (we can discuss some flexibility here).
  • Above all, a passion for accuracy, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to contribute to advancements in medical technology.

Why Join This Project?

This is more than just an annotation task; it is an opportunity to:

  • Make a real impact: Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of an AI tool with the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
  • Engage with cutting-edge technology: Be at the forefront of AI in healthcare and gain experience with innovative annotation platforms.
  • Collaborate with peers: Work alongside other experienced radiologists in a supportive and quality-focused environment.
  • Enjoy flexibility: Contribute your skills from the convenience of your own workspace with a flexible time commitment.
  • Be valued for your expertise: Receive competitive hourly compensation for your time and insights.
