Job summary

City of Hope Beckman Research Institute seeks a Scientific Writer / Project Development Scientist to lead clinical, translational, and basic research activities in partnership with Dr. Christine Lovly, Chief of Thoracic Oncology Division.

You will collaborate with lab and clinical researchers, biostatisticians, and regulatory staff to shepherd projects from conception to manuscript publication. You will work in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment, requiring meticulous attention to

Qualifications

• Requires a PhD in biology, biochemistry, or another life science or a Master’s with 3+ years scientific writing/clinical study experience.
• Experience with NIH or DOD grant writing (R01 level).
• Familiarity with data analysis techniques, graphing, and interpretation of lab and clinical data.
• Demonstrated publication record from graduate school and postdoc work.
• Proficiency with Word, EndNote, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Acrobat, Illustrator, and BioRender.

Responsibilities

• Develop in-depth knowledge of Thoracic Oncology Program goals and terminology.
• Support project design and grant writing; manage grant submission logistics and funding opportunities.
• Support grant and project management with communications to funding agencies and regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate clinical trial design, protocols, and submission for IRB/IACUC oversight.
• Prepare clear data figures, model overviews, graphs, and presentation slides.
• Organize manuscript writing and journal submission, including revisions and proofs.
