Job summary

City of Hope Beckman Research Institute in Irvine, CA seeks a Scientific Writer to support grant proposals, manuscripts, INDs, and clinical/IRB protocols for faculty and trainees.

The role involves editing, data management, grant searching, translating complex science for lay audiences, and helping plan educational courses and workshops within a leading cancer and medical research center.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with one or more years of scientific writing experience.
• Experience writing NIH R01 proposals and/or INDs preferred

Responsibilities

• Write, edit (content, style and grammar/spelling), and proofread R01 and R01-like grant proposals, scientific manuscripts for peer review, INDs, clinical and IRB protocols, or other scientific documents for faculty, research fellows, and students.
• Assist with maintenance of databases and/or reference libraries.
• Search the internet and other sources for foundation and government grant opportunities.
• Translate scientific abstracts into lay terms.
• Assist with planning and conducting educational courses and workshops.
• Assist with assembling scientific documents as necessary (e.g., large institutional grants, annual/occasional reports, progress reports for grants admin., IND applications, etc.).

We are looking for a Scientific Writer to support Dr. Edward Kim, Senior Vice President and Vice Physician-in-chief at City of Hope Orange County.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Write, edit (content, style and grammar/spelling), and proofread¬ R01 and R01-like grant proposals, scientific manuscripts for peer review, INDs, clinical and IRB protocols, or other scientific documents for faculty, research fellows, and students.
• Assist with maintenance of databases and/or reference libraries.
