Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Synoptics division is seeking a Third Shift Production Supervisor – Level 1 to lead Crystal Growth, Fabrication, and Coating operations onsite in the United States. The role focuses on safety, productivity, and delivering high-quality crystalline materials for laser systems.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree and 2+ years in manufacturing, plus proven leadership and strong communication skills.

• Effectively document and communicate production issues/status to first-shift personnel
• Partner with area supervisors, managers, or other resources to address and solve critical operational and employee performance issues in a timely manner
• Fully understand and properly execute emergency procedures
• Demonstrate the required leadership behaviors to motivate and engage employees and to build trust and confidence among the management team and peers

Third Shift Production Supervisor – Level 1

This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. An organization within Northrop Grumman’s, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These “solid-state” laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 60 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. In this job, you will:

Basic Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical or business discipline and 2 plus years of experience
• No clearance required
• Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Demonstrated leadership behaviors to motivate, engage, and build trust
• Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or related technical field
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Experience directly supervising a manufacturing operation and personnel
• Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $86,800.00 - $130,200.00

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
