  • Maintain and modify coating chambers and chamber components.
  • Work on long-term projects to improve electrical/PLC components.
  • Document parts drawings, tooling, and check sheets.
  • Troubleshoot controls, instruments, and mechanical systems.
  • Some heavy lifting is expected; team lift over 50lbs.

This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. These “solid-state” laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Provides equipment support to ensure smooth 24/7 operation in Thin Film Coating department. Supports the Equipment Engineer in design, fabrication, and modification of equipment and tooling. In this job, you will:

  • Performs preventative maintenance on critical equipment and tooling in TFC.
  • Maintain and/or modify existing coating chambers and chamber components.
  • Work on long‑term projects such as improvement of existing and/or obsolete electrical/PLC components.
  • Document parts drawings, tooling, and check sheets.
  • Troubleshoots controls, instruments, and mechanical systems.
  • Some heavy lifting is expected; team lift more than 50lbs.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start.
  • Understanding of drawings, BOMs, and prints associated with semi-complex mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and PC control systems.
  • Experience with PLC/ladder control programming.
  • Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in collaborative team environment.
  • Able to apply technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts.
  • Ability to determine/identify sequence of operations or actions to be taken.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate in Applied Sciences (AAS)

Primary Level Salary Range: $45,100.00 - $75,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
