Job summary

Optalis Healthcare is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will support infection control, survey readiness, and quality of life for residents.

The role involves cleaning resident rooms and common areas, handling waste, and assisting with emergency cleaning tasks while upholding dignity and privacy of residents. Physical tasks are required.

Qualifications

• Functional literacy and ability to follow instructions.
• Preferred: housekeeping experience in healthcare or hospitality.

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily per facility standards.
• Perform terminal cleaning of resident rooms as needed.
• Clean windows, walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture according to schedules.
• Handle and dispose of waste, including biohazardous waste, per facility procedures.
• Monitor for pests and report concerns to supervisor.
• Assist with emergency cleaning tasks and survey preparation.
• Knowledge of infection control and housekeeping standards.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Standing/walking for most of shift; frequent bending and lifting (5--40 lbs).


• Ability to push housekeeping carts (up to 300 lbs with assistance).


• Exposure to odors, chemicals, and wet/humid conditions.
