Job summary

Gorton's, a national seafood company based in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is hiring a forklift operator to support production operations. You will operate a forklift and follow strict safety and GMP guidelines while maintaining clean production areas.

Additionally, you will stage materials for current and upcoming shifts, assist with relieving colleagues during breaks, and ensure washrooms and workspaces remain organized and compliant. Overtime may be required as needed to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50–70 lb bags and pallets.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a processing facility or fast-paced environment preferred.
• Overtime availability.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift following safety regulations.
• Maintain GMPs for compliance with internal and external standards.
• Clean and maintain production areas including sweeping and vacuuming; remove trash and waste.
• Stage materials for shifts and next shift; assist as needed.
• Relieve other positions during breaks per supervisor.

Job description

What you\'ll do:

• Operating a forklift while following all safety regulations
• Following all factory GMPs to ensure compliance to all internal and external standards
• General cleaning and housekeeping of production areas to ensure safety of employees and safety, legality and quality of product. This includes:
  • General sweeping and vacuuming of production areas to remove product buildup on the floors, equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Removal of trash, waste and recycle before shift end and as needed throughout shift or when instructed by the supervisor or management.
  • Any specific cleaning tasks as requested by the supervisor or management
• Staging materials as needed throughout the shift.
  • This also includes staging all materials for the next shift.
• Relieving other positions during breaks, lunches or in times of need per supervisor or management request.
• Ensuring the washroom is clean, organized and free from buildup throughout shift and before end of shift. This includes:
  • Chemical cabinet locked and secured
  • Floors cleaned, sinks free from tools and debris
  • All tools hung properly

What You\'ll Need:

• Manually lifting 50-70lb bags, boxes or tubs and moving pallets as needed
• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior work experience in a processing facility or in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with a positive attitude
• Ability to work overtime
