Job summary

Job description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating powered industrial trucks to move, store, and distribute materials throughout the warehouse and distribution center. This role primarily focuses on loading and unloading trailers according to customer specifications, accurately placing inventory in designated locations, and inspecting inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and quality. The Forklift Operator plays a key role in maintaining inventory integrity, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.

Reports To: Tier 3 Lead Forklift Operator/Sr. Supervisor

Primary Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with co-workers and coordinate to receive instructions and coordinate activities
• Safely operate forklift equipment and other material-handling equipment as required
• Load and unload trailers according to customer and company specifications

Store and stack inventory in designated warehouse locations

• Pick mixed pallets and accurately fulfill order requirements
• Utilize RF scanners and warehouse management systems to track inventory movements
• Review and audit shipping and receiving documents to ensure packing list matches received product

Inspect inbound and outbound shipments for damage, discrepancies, or quality concerns.

• Perform occasional case picking and other manual labor tasks as needed
• Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and follow all safety procedures
• Conduct pre-shift and routine forklift inspections, reporting equipment issues promptly
• Organize trailer and pallet loads to maximize efficiency and minimize damage
• Prepare pallets for shipment including, wrapping, banding, labeling, and staging
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Support cycle counts and inventory audits, and other inventory control activities as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Physical Demands:

• Occasional lifting of materials and products weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling.
