Job summary

The Rapid is seeking a Transit Vehicle Technician (Bus Mechanic) for the 3rd shift to help keep our community moving. You will inspect, service, and repair a range of vehicles from light trucks to full-size transit buses, ensuring safety and reliability for passengers daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years of vocational or technical schooling or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to obtain Michigan CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsement.
• Valid Michigan Driver's license with minimal points and clean record.
• DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening compliance.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain transit buses and related vehicles.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and component servicing.
• Repair brake, fuel, emission, steering, heating/cooling, and transmission systems.
• Use hoists, jacks, and alignment equipment for inspections and repairs.
• Keep accurate electronic repair order records and service history.
