Goodwill Industries Of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inc. is seeking a full-time, non-exempt store associate to support the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in daily operations of a high-volume retail variety store in Irmo, SC.

The role covers supervising staff, cash handling, inventory and reporting duties, and maintaining store standards while promoting Goodwill’s mission and customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager and Assistant Manager in developing and operating the store to maximize retail market share and donations per annual budget.
• Supervise associates and clients in day-to-day operations of the retail variety store.
• Handle store management responsibilities in the absence of Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
• Operate the cash register, validate payment methods, balance and count cash drawers.
• Process daily bank deposits, handle returns and merchandise credits, validate checks.
• Maintain inventories, weekly schedules, reconcile receipts, and prepare daily reports.
• Perform housekeeping and janitorial duties asScheduled and assigned.
• Ensure compliance with established Goodwill policies and procedures.
• Work with store team to maximize growth of the location.
• Work in other locations as needed.
• Adhere to attendance policies and LP policies and procedures.
• Assist manager in training of all associates.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To effectively maintain a strong work ethic to manage a high volume, retail variety store.
• To encourage and promote a mutual associate/customer/donor relationship which enhances the profitability of Goodwill Industries.
• To establish positive relationships with clients and associates to successfully implement Goodwill’s mission services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To assist the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in the development and operations of the assigned store to maximize retail market share and donations in compliance with the annual operating budget.
• To assist the Retail Store Manager and Assistant Manager supervise associates and clients in the day-to-day operations of retail variety store.
• To handle the responsibility of store management in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
• To accurately operate the cash register, to include validating methods of payment (i.e. cash, check, money orders, gift certificates or charge card purchases) to validate register tapes, to balance and count down cash drawers.
• To make daily bank deposits, handle customer returns and merchandise credits, and validate customer checks.
• To successfully maintain monthly inventories, weekly schedules, reconciliation of daily sales receipts, and prepare daily reports accurately and timely in the absence of the Retail Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
• To process, stock, merchandise, colorize, size, tag, barb and date merchandise. To help exceed production goals where possible to enhance sales budget.
• To perform general housekeeping, custodial and janitorial duties as may be scheduled and assigned.
• To ensure compliance with established Goodwill policies and procedures.
• To work with entire store team to maximize growth of the location.
• To work in other locations as needed.
• To adhere to all attendance policies and LP policies and procedures.
• To assist manager in the training of all associates.
• To perform all other duties as assigned.
